For Immediate Release Columbia Lighting’s e·poc® 2-Lamp Full Distribution Luminaire Delivers Sophisticated Design with Multiple Optical Aesthetics and Remarkable Energy SavingsSeptember 8, 2008, Greenville, SC -- e·poc® Full Distribution Luminaire—the latest product line to join Columbia Lighting‘s family of createchange™ luminaires—not only emphasizes energy reduction and sustainability, but the luminaire’s imprint is highlighted by clean lines, full light distribution, and low-contrast luminance. The e·poc® Full Distribution Luminaire merges these characteristics in a 2-lamp lensed package. Offered in both T5 and T8, the luminaire combines a bevy of lamp/ballast combinations and control options thatare built into a stylish linear design. e·poc also offers a choice of three different lens aesthetics (Shield, Delta, and Curve), and a hinged optical system that makes below-the-ceiling access to the fixture’s lamps and electrical components a breeze. Whether it’s for an office, medical, educational, or retail setting–more and more end users are looking to full distribution luminaires that fill an environment with controlled illumination. Not only does controlled lighting eliminate the cave effect produced by parabolics, it establishes a much more welcoming atmosphere for the occupants in that space. The e·poc is compatible with control systems, including full dimming, step dimming, occupancy sensors, and daylight harvesting sensors, and its energy footprint is small enough to comply with the most stringent energy codes. Its low watts per square foot energy usage also qualifies it for many local rebate programs and EPAct tax deductions. “e·poc and the other createchange™ energy saving luminaires are tuned to balance performance and energy savings,” says Randy Lewis, Columbia Lighting’s Market Development Manager. “By using this approach, Columbia has proven that performance does not have to suffer in order to provide substantial energy savings.” Expanding on the tuned systems approach incorporated into other Columbia Lighting createchange™ lighting fixtures, e·poc takes advantage of T5 lamp and ballast thermals to gain efficiency and save energy without sacrificing light levels. e·poc achieves efficiencies up to 90.3% for T5 and 87.3% for T8. The T8 configuration uses an exclusive EnergyMax® 1.04 BF tuned ballast to provide the best possible balance between light output and energy savings, and meets NEMA Premium Ballast criteria. In the end, the T5 offers an energy savings of 29% and the T8 provides a savings of 21-34% over traditional 3-lamp parabolics. Both T5 and T8 are available with a range of step dimming ballast options. e·poc® Full Distribution Luminaire is one of six products developed by Columbia in an unprecedentedlighting solutions initiative addressing energy conservation and opportunities to save money through EPAct 2005 and other tax and rebate incentives. These lighting solutions: e·poc, EnergyMax® (Stratus, Parabolic, and Intersect), VersaBay, and ZPT (Zero Plenum® Troffer) will create positive changes and represent a win-win-win for specifiers, electrical contractors, building owners, and users alike.
